Scholarship Details
Award Amount:
$500 USD (one-time scholarship)
This scholarship is awarded annually to one student who demonstrates passion, purpose, and potential in the field of mental health—whether through personal experience, academic study, or community involvement. The $500 award is meant to help alleviate the financial burden of higher education and support the recipient’s continued growth.

Winner Announcement Date:
January 15, 2026
The selected recipient will be notified via email and formally announced through Balance Mental Health Group’s website and social media channels (with consent).

We welcome applications from students across the United States who are passionate about mental health and committed to making a positive impact. To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
As a mental health provider with deep roots in Massachusetts, we value strong connections to local communities and institutions. Students attending colleges in the region—including Salem State University, Endicott College, UMass Lowell, Boston University, Northeastern University, Suffolk University, Emerson College, and others—are among those who may find this opportunity especially relevant.

Essay Prompt
We want to hear your story. In 500 words or fewer, please respond to the following prompt:
“How has mental health impacted your life, and how do you hope to contribute to the field?”
This could include:
- A personal journey with mental health and the lessons it taught you
- How you’ve supported a loved one through their challenges
- The reason you chose to pursue a career in psychology, social work, or public health
- Your vision for changing how mental health is perceived or treated in your community
We are not evaluating essays for perfect grammar or academic polish—we are looking for honest, thoughtful, and heartfelt reflections. What matters most is that your voice is authentic and your message is meaningful.

- Use your official school email address to verify your enrollment.
- Upload a copy of your valid student ID* to confirm current attendance at an accredited college or university.
*If you are a high school senior, please include documentation verifying your current enrollment—such as a school email address, bus pass, student ID, class schedule, or recent report card.
Submit your application
Submit your application no later than 11:59 PM EST on November 30, 2025.
Once the application window closes, our internal review committee—composed of Balance Mental Health Group team members—will carefully evaluate all submissions. Only one winner will be selected, and will be notified by email no later than 11:59 PM EST on January 15, 2026.

Terms & Conditions
To maintain fairness and integrity throughout the process, applicants should be aware of the following:
- Only one winner will be selected for the Balance Mental Health Group Mental Health Awareness Scholarship.
- Only one application per student will be accepted.
- Essays must be original and written by the applicant. Submissions generated by AI or copied from other sources will be disqualified.
- Applicants must provide a valid student ID and use their official school email address to verify current enrollment at an accredited college or university. Balance Mental Health Group reserves the right to independently verify enrollment with the institution.
- Applicants must follow Balance Mental Health Group on both Instagram and Facebook as part of the eligibility requirements:
- By submitting your application, you agree that, if selected as the winner, Balance Mental Health Group may—with your written consent—publish your name and a brief excerpt of your essay on our website, blog, or social media.
- Scholarship funds will be awarded via check directly to the recipient, with the expectation that the funds will be used for qualifying educational expenses such as tuition, books, supplies, or related costs.
- Balance Mental Health Group is not responsible for any lost, late, incomplete, or misdirected applications, or for technical issues preventing submission.
- The scholarship cannot be transferred, deferred, or exchanged for cash or any other benefit.
- Balance Mental Health Group reserves the right to modify, cancel, or terminate the scholarship at any time for any reason without prior notice, including but not limited to unforeseen circumstances.
- By applying, applicants agree to be bound by these terms and the decisions of the scholarship committee, which are final and binding in all matters.
